About Judy Figura It has been my joy to be in the counseling field for the past 25 years, working in a variety of settings. Most recently, for the past 10 + years, I had the privilege of working with the fantastic group of clients and colleagues at Rock Landing Psychological Group --a private practice office in Newport News, VA. The opportunity to move to Asheville was an impossible one to refuse, and since summer 2013 I have enjoyed the beauty and vibrancy of this community, while beginning a counseling office in the downtown Ravenscroft Suites. Earlier parts of my career were in service at various organizations, working with women and men, children, teens and seniors. I have worked with community mental health, health facilities, and crisis intervention. My values have always embraced a deep respect for all, inclusive of all cultures, religious and spiritual beliefs, and styles of loving partnerships. I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Norfolk State University, received in 1997. Currently, I am licensed by the states of both North Carolina and Virginia as as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). |
My Style of Therapy and Services OfferedChallenging times and periods
of crisis happen in the lives of
us all. As we seek healing
through the dark times, we may be
surprised to discover that valuable
insights and deepened wisdom for
living are made available to us at
such crossroads. It has been my
experience that many people find
therapy to be a useful tool in this
process.
In the confidential and non-judgmental space of our work together, my clients find a safe environment where there is support for processing emotions, mental patterns and experiences of life. I am continually in awe of this process which so often leads to greater peace, confidence, and meaning in the lives of those with whom I work. I
enjoy working with clients through
diverse stages of life,
from adolescence to the
octogenarian years. Many of my
clients choose therapy to help them
through a difficult life
transition, or to help with an
emotional or
relationship difficulty.
Through the work of
therapy, new skills and patterns of
living are learned, and
new insights are
gained. It
is exciting to know
that these insights often involve
increased awareness of inner strengths,
in addition to a clearer understanding
of the problems being faced.

Over the years of my work as a therapist, I have had the amazing privilege to witness the process of therapy helping clients learn to access their own inner capacity to heal, grow and flourish through all stages of life. I am deeply grateful to those who have trusted me in the past through a time of difficulty. I maintain a deep intention to always honor the trust of those who choose to enter therapy with me, now and in the future. Contact InformationYou
